This course is especially designed for those who are coming to Finland to study — but everyone is welcome. If you're looking for a clear, practical, and structured way to learn Finnish, you're in the right place.

From day one, you’ll be learning the real Finnish spoken by young people in the Tampere and Helsinki regions — not stiff textbook phrases, but the way people actually talk.

In the Absolute Beginners course, you’ll get:

  • 7 lessons: Two lessons per week that build on each other

  • A zoom meeting twice a week to practice speaking

  • Grammar and vocabulary exercises

  • Pronounce Finnish words correctly

  • Greet people and introduce yourself

  • Talk about your homecountry, language and nationality

  • Count from 0 to 100

  • Ask and answer basic questions

  • Introduce your family and describe who's who

  • Use important phrases in everyday life - all in natural Finnish!

    You’ll also start building your grammar foundation — from pronunciation and sentence structure to simple cases and verbs — all taught clearly, in context, and step by step.

    After this course, you will be ready to continue with Stepping into Finnish, where we’ll go deeper into grammar and vocabulary. You'll learn to talk about time, weather, living, food, errands, and hobbies — with structure, confidence, and the same focus on natural, spoken language. At the end of the Stepping into Finnish course, you will be on a strong A1.3 level and you can proceed confidentially towards your language exam.
